The Story

One of the joys of designing occurs when we're asked to collaborate with clients who already have a great sense of style. When Jason was brought into this project, it wasn't to do any major structural or architectural changes, but to enhance the home's stately details already present. The resulting design mirrors this young and active family using a fresh color palette, cool and contemporary furniture, and creative lighting. The dining room is anchored by a nearly 12 foot long live-edge walnut table and white leather chairs. The custom light, with walnut canopy and modern mouth-blown glass shades, provides just the right lighting for this grand room. In the living room we paired a vibrant green with neutral gray for a fresh, contemporary look. And, just to play with eras, a luxurious velvet striped fabric covers an antique chair for a fun moment and perfect reading corner. The use of color continues to the front entry where aqua becomes the accent. Two armless chairs in an artistic velvet fabric and custom area rug play nicely against the gray and white gatework wallpaper used throughout the stairwell. In the upstairs, we were asked to update one of the smaller rooms to be a home office. The small jewel box of a room received a beautiful wall treatment with silver and cream wallpaper, and is highlighted by a pale aqua ceiling and black & white area rug.
